Discrimination

Sick of having my words twisted, misquoted and misinterpreted, so I’ll leave it at this:
I believe people should be treated equally regardless of gender or ethnicity. I believe conference speakers should be selected based on merit, not to meet some arbitrary diversity quota. I believe that asking someone to speak based on race/gender hugely devalues their achievements.
I think that focusing on gender and ethnicity only serves to widen the gaps, not close them. I would suggest reading this excellent post on female comedians, which applies perfectly to female speakers in the design community (which is how this all started).
These are my opinions. You don’t have to agree with them. But that doesn’t make them wrong.
